Ways Your School Can Help

Free Workshop, Talk or Booth at Your School

Please contact us to set up an informational college planning workshop at your location. We most commonly provide stand alone workshops which typically last about 1-1/2 - 2 hours. All you need to do is provide the venue and invite your parents by email and we will do the rest. Rest assured we do not sell or solicit your parents for anything during the workshop, and after the event we provide you with a copy of all the comment sheets that we collect.

In addition, we also can participate in limited scope discussions (like PTA events) or table/booth settings as part of one of your events.

The material we discuss during our full workshop covers all of the information below and a bit more:

  • CollegeSmart Solutions' simple 3-step approach to college affordability:
    • Step 1: Educate families on the best strategies to save for college and get the most free money
    • Step 2: Suggest ways families could improve cash flow and reduce their EFC
    • Step 3: Match high gifting colleges with the student's career path
  • The economics of the current and future costs of college
  • What types of financial aid are available and where to get them
  • How the financial aid formulas work, examples of how their various types of income and assets are "assessed" by FAFSA and PROFILE, and how to use that to their advantage
  • Dispell financial aid myths, like "I make too much money" or "my student is not a high achiever
  • Strategies to ensure their students will graduate in 4 years instead of the average 5.6 years at state schools across the country
  • How to position their student to increase the chance of getting a good financial aid offer
  • Specific strategies using case study examples for high, middle and low income families
  • Strategies young families should start employing now
  • The financial aid audit and appeal processes
  • How to get a free personalized consultation if they need help or have unique situations
  • Questions & Answers

If your constituents are a younger group of families (elementary/middle school), the program caters to the issues most important to them, which are different than a high school family who needs to start filling out FAFSA forms right away.

As a reminder, we do not charge a fee for our workshops or one-hour individual consultations.
